Parent/Child Dedication at Parkway Place
At Parkway Place we love to celebrate milestones in the lives of children. The first milestone is a Parent/Child Dedication Service. It consists of two events on a designated Sunday, a brunch and recognition during the worship service.
To participate we ask that you watch two short videos about what this service is about. Next we ask that you write a letter to your child (it will make sense after you watch the videos) along with choosing 3-4 characteristics that you are praying for you child to develop and a bible verse.
On the day of the service, each family will have a table for 8 at the brunch. You can invite whoever you would like to sit with you, grandparent, aunt, uncle, close friend....whoever is important to you and your child. During the brunch we will have a photo op to commemorate the day along with a short program recognizing the families. If time allows, we like to have each family share the letter they have written to their child.
During our 10:30 Worship Service, there will be a time for families to come forward with their child/children to be introduced to the church and prayed over.

Step 3: Homework
Write a letter to your child. Tell them the hopes and dreams you have for them and most importantly, what you are praying for them. If it would be helpful, we can send you and example.
Choose 3-4 characteristics that you want to pray for your child to develop. Examples are: kindness, honesty, bravery, trustworthiness, reliability, compassion, empathetic, optimism, generosity, confidence, caring, polite, considerate, flexible, open-minded, patient, focused.
One last task: choose a Bible verse that you want to claim for your child.

We will have the letter printed for you at the brunch. If time allows, we will have each family share their letter with the group.
